The Need for A Rebbe

BH

The Need for A Rebbe

In the Bible :

Berishit :

If Adam would have had a Rebbe he would have not sinned.

Rashi comments on the conversation that

G-d had with Adam, Chava, and The Snake after having eaten form the Tree of Knowledge. G-d asks them Adam and Chava why they sinned, and each blames the other, Adam blames Chava, Chava blames the Snake. However G-d does not ask the Snake, why he decided to seduce them into sinning. Rashi explains because he had the perfect excuse: “The words of the Teacher and the words of the Student; who do you listen to”? Meaning, the Snake, could have said the Adam should have not listening to him, because one must listen to the words of their teacher instead of the words of another student. Adam himself is to blame for eating from the tree. This comment brings an interesting thought to mind. Had Adam, thought of himself as a Student with a teacher perhaps he would have not sinned.

Unfortunately,  Adam viewed himself as his own Rav.
